Mother's Day was busy at Manna!

We had large bookings for both indoor and outdoor areas. Luckily it was a fine day! The streamlined Mother's Day menu went down a treat. Green Eggs were the big hit, followed by Essendon legend James Hird kicking a footy with his kids in the car park, then Eggs Benedikt. The Hollandiase sauce Mary made turned out to be particularly popular and for those interested in maiking it at home, please check the recipe page

Thanks go to all the mum's that came and celebrated their special day with us.

In the afternoon, Manna launched its first High Tea. From 2.30-5pm guests were treated with a dazzling array of cakes, small sandwiches, canapes, and other delights plus tea and coffee.

Based on the popularity of this event, we have decided to make this a weekly event. So please join us any Sunday from 2.30 - 5pm. Cost is $25 pp ($15 children) including hot drinks or chocolate milkshake, fruit cocktail.

Cook and eat with Sergio de Pieri

Renowned organist and master chef Sergio de Pieri (brother of Stefano from the renowned Gondola on the Murray) will kick off Manna's cooking classes with a hands-on demo of lovable Italian food. His cheeky smile, affable demeanour together with his lifelong love of cooking and restaurant experience will ensure this night will be a highlight of your cooking calender.

It sounds easy, but can you make the perfect bruschetta? Do you really know how to cook pasta? Do you know which pasta shape goes with which sauce? What the secrets are behind a risotto?

Number of attendees to this special night are limited to 25, so everyone will be able to spend quality time with Sergio at the stove. And you are guaranteed not to go home hungry - not only do you make the meal you eat the meal, sharing the table with Sergio and a glass of chianti or two. It promises to be a fascinating and rewarding experience.

Sergio's master class and dinner begins at 7.30pm. price is $75 pp.

Please ensure your place by leaving a deposit of $30 at manna cafe by 10th April

 Reflections
An exhibition of paintings by Nell Frysteen*

The works in this exhibition have had a topical journey to Kinross House. Prior to the exhibition, they were on display at a gallery in Brandy Creek, near Drouin. The recent fires burned to within 500 metres of the gallery, but luckily did not create any permanent damage. However, the works were all smoke affected and required cleaning before coming to Kinross House. We hope that you enjoy this exhibition and, in the midst of such beauty, take a moment to consider the horror of the situation around where they were housed till just a few days ago.

19.04.09 sparky's 5th birthday

Sparky is in charge of the meet-and-greet for manna's furry friends. A hard-worker, after clocking at 8am, she inspects the grounds. After making sure that there are no uneaten food scraps lying around the garden, she chases away the pesky birds after which it is time for her well-earned breakfast of two raw chicken wings. She credits raw wings for her brighter, whiter smile. No sooner has she finished breakfast, then her guests arrive. Sparky directs them to the water bowl. Dress code at manna is casual but Sparky does not approve of unruly behaviour, and loud barking is not tolerated. Misbehaviour will meet with a severe lick.

Working hours are long so Sparky cannot spend much time at home any more with her best friend, Maxwell the tabby, However, she has made many new friends at Manna and hopes they will visit her on her birthday. She'll be at the cafe all day on Sunday 19th April so please drop by to say 'woof'.

In case you were wondering, Sparky is half-whippet, half-German Shepherd. That explains her big ears and un-whippet like bushy tail. Also the German Shepherd was an albino.
